On September 23, legendary conservative leader and fundraiser Richard A. Viguerie will turn 90 years old.
To honor him, the Leadership Institute is collaborating with the Hillsdale College film department to produce a documentary this summer on his contributions to the conservative movement during his long career. Buddy Moorehouse, a documentary journalism professor at Hillsdale College and highly skilled filmmaker, will produce the film. He estimates it will cost $35,000 to make.
To make this a truly meaningful tribute to Richard, we hope his longtime friends, fans, and colleagues will donate toward the production costs of this important film. It will detail how Richard turned direct mail marketing into a billion-dollar industry that financed and built the conservative movement starting in 1965.
The film will also acknowledge the thousands of people who have come through Richard’s agency to work for major, history-changing non-profits, candidates, and political action committees.
Everyone who gives $1,000 to $4,999 will be listed in the film’s credits. Those who give $5,000 or more will be listed as Co-Producers in the film’s credits and have their names printed on the film’s packaging cover.
This documentary will highlight Richard’s vision, determination, and decades of success (in both good times and bad) and we hope it will serve as an inspiration for young conservatives just now getting started in the movement — including the Hillsdale students who will be working on the film.
